The project involves unfolding memories, the event “Secret Killings of Assam”. Which is recognized as the darkest chapter in Assam’s political history from `1998 to 2001, when relatives, friends, and sympathizers of ULFA insurgents were systematically killed by unknown assailants. I looked at how the state produces and stages memory through archives and state-represented tableaux in these period and performed in Republic Day parade in New Delhi, India. I placed these official forms of remembering alongside the private and public memories of families who had lost their loved ones during this period of state violence to looked at the gap between how a history is remembered publicly and how it continues to live within those who experienced its loss.
